The first quarter has always been the least profitable quarter for AA. So even though Q1/09 profit has been less than Q4/08, It has still been their most profitable first quarter. So AA on track for a record full year profot in 09.
AA is one of the few companies with strong fundementals and solid growth on DFM.
AA has first mover advantage. It will remain the market leader in the region for some time until Fly Dubai gets established. Lets hope management at AA do not become complacent and overconfident.
I think AA is doing well but not sure when Fly Dubai will launch and how many distinations they will ...

Low cost carriers always do well in recessionary enviroments.
Another ecouraging sign was that altough total net profit was up 32% compared to the Q1/08, the operating profit was up by almost 74%. This fact make the results look even more impressive.
